This involves a comprehensive Jaw Joint Examination and a TMJ/OPG digital imaging of the jaw joints for a full diagnosis. Often an occlusal splint (similar to a mouthguard) is required. This is made of hard acrylic that covers the biting surfaces of the teeth.
This stops the teeth meeting and enables the jaw joints /muscles to rest and after a few weeks the symptoms usually subside. Sometimes there are other underlying causes which may still need to be addressed and these could include biting issues or orthodontic issues. We are happy to discuss all treatments during a consultation with all information and literature given out at this appointment.
